The Metro Parks Visual Arts Division offers popular, affordable classes at the Centennial Art Center — an historic building located in Centennial Park. Originally built as a swimming complex in 1932, it closed in 1959 and was renovated in 1971. It now houses a gallery and visual arts teaching facility that includes painting and pottery studios.
All of our specialized skilled instructors are local artists. Our most popular art classes include painting, abstract painting, pottery, and sculpture. Many local area artists got started through Centennial Art Center classes and both past and current students consistently win awards in juried exhibitions.
The Centennial Art Center Gallery also hosts six gallery shows annually. The gallery showcases the art of local and regional professional and emerging artists. The Gallery is free and open to the public 4 days a week.
Donations to the the Metro Parks Visual Arts Division help fund student scholarships, pay for supplies and cover the cost of gallery events.
