The Z. Alexander Looby Theater

The Z. Alexander Looby Theater (“The Looby”) is named after the famed Nashville-based civil rights leader and is home to a wide variety of programming. Located at 2301 Rosa L. Parks Blvd in North Nashville, the facility offers events presented by The Metro Parks Theater, Music, and Dance Departments, as well as events presented by other organizations through partnerships and rentals.

Z. Alexander Looby Theater Rentals

The Looby Theater rents for $155 per hour with a four-hour minimum ($620.00). This includes the space, basic lighting (warm/cool wash, lights up/down), basic audio (house audio and up to 4 wired microphones), basic projection, an audio operator, and a house manager. All projected materials must be on a thumb drive or downloaded prior to your booking.

  • If you agree to all of the information in the application, you are welcome to complete and submit it.
  • Once submitted, your application will go directly to Theater Division Supervisor, Christen Heilman.
  • You can expect to receive an email within 7 days regarding application acceptance or denial, along with next steps for booking, including down payment instructions.
  • No rental is confirmed without approval from the Theater Division Supervisor and receipt of the down payment.

Metro Parks Cultural Arts Performances

The Z. Alexander Looby Theater is home to many of Metro Parks Cultural Arts own performances from the Theater, Music and Dance departments, including Youth Ensemble Productions, Centennial Youth Ballet Spring Dance Concert, “jambands” End-of-Session Concerts, and more.

Other Performances

The Z. Alexander Looby Theater is also available as a rental facility for performing arts events. Our 218-seat, proscenium-style theater can accommodate a wide variety of performances. Previous events have included dance concerts, youth productions, film presentations, awards ceremonies, theater productions, music events, video and commercial shoots, and much more.

Centennial Black Box Theater

This small performance space is ideal for meetings, presentations and performances for crowds of less than 65 people. For playwright’s looking to workshop a script, or for a musical performance of a small band or combo, this intimate setting allows for connection and conversation with the audience.
